It’s Monday morning and I would kill for a chance to drive, ya, so far away from here with you my dear
…In 2010 ABI decided to take their music in a new progressive direction within the hard rock genre in order to widen their appeal without compromising the technicality of their music. This move was motivated by ABI’s goal of writing music for a broader audience while still clinging to their metal roots. As a result, ABI’s latest album (Windfall) is an interesting combination of progressive metal and hard rock riffs and beats with more mainstream melodies and harmonies. ABI’s ability to effectively combine diverse musical elements is at the core of their latest album, Windfall.
ABI selected Chris Clancy, who hails from the United Kingdom and is the lead singer for the progressive metal band Mutiny Within, to mix and master the album. The band worked extremely hard to marry the traditional metal sound with ballads, choirs, orchestras, flutes, and congas to create a unique mainstream and progressive hard rock musical feel. Freedom Ahead sets the tone early as a driving hard rock song with a great groove. It’s quite a timely release and extremely relevant song, as many of the countries around the world are right now struggling to be freed from oppression. For more hard hitting rock, Still Constricted will capture the listener with a powerful plea for release life in a constricted society. The Shine will hit home with ABI’s listeners as it deals with a young person’s proud struggle to grow into their own person and separate from their childhood rearing. Open Ends and Frayed Out Ends is a two-part story that follows a man on his quest to find meaning in his life. ABI really does have a distinctive sound and message that will find a way to relate to the life and concerns of anyone listening.
